or maybe its just marketing, this way they can sell 3900x as the most premium sku then when the prices fall down from attrition introduce a new most premium sku at full price.
It's 24 from the CPU, 16 for the PCIe x16 Slot, 4 for M.2 NVME and 4 to the chipset. The chipset then provides another 16 PCIe lanes for a total of 40 lanes. But the lanes from the chipset can only get a total bandwidth of 4 PCIe 4.0 lanes.
An exceiting announcement. Two questions come to my mind:
Will the Ryzen 3000 CPUs have ECC? I guess that yes, because AFAIK all AMD CPUs since at least the Athlon 64 had it; I expect that we will hardly see Ryzen Pro CPUs with official support in the retail market for CPUs, though.
Does Zen2 have proper fixes for Spectre? With "proper fix" I mean something that does not cost performance, and that you do not disable if performance is more of an issue than security.
I guess the CPU I'd be most interested in isn't on the list. That would be a Ryzen 7 3200 (without the X). For those willing to overclock, IMO the CPU's to have in the first gen were the 1700 (what I have) and in Ryzen + the 2700. a 1700 will usually overclock to the same speed as a 1800x while the 2700 will usually hit the same speeds as a 2700x. So I was hoping the replacement for my 1700 would be a 3700. Perhaps if I wait a bit longer? Actually wait a bit longer is almost always the best option as prices are certain to drop at least a bit after a while.

Yes it's real 256. Th e max DDR4 depends on the motherboard manufacturers designs.https://community.amd.com/community/gaming/blog/20...

What's the deal with PCIe 4.0 lanes? Is it 40 as per the slide / Tech Report or 24 as per this article?AlexDaum - Saturday, June 1, 2019 - link

Most X570 board specs on manufacturers' sites state ECC support, so I'd wager the Ryzen 3000 is capable of that.mdriftmeyer - Wednesday, May 29, 2019 - link
Yes it has ECC. Go check out the X570 motherboards already being released.https://community.amd.com/community/gaming/blog/20...
From there go to the vendor sites and read their specs.
